Mr. A.B. Vajpayee was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India in May 1996. But he failed to gather majority support. Therefore, he resigned after 13 days. In 1997, he led the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and got majority support. He was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India on 15 March 1997. About ten men in India exploit the public resources, control the public mind and rule India. They are the ruling class of India. They wanted to divest the Government of India of its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). For this, they wanted a powerful prime minister commanding maximum public support Mr. A.B. Vajpayee wanted to impose his will upon the land. The media projected him as a great leader. A series of actions -nuclear explosions and missile tests- and some incidents- for instance Kargil War- secured him a place in the mind of the people. In April 1999, Miss. J. Jayalalitha withdrew the support of her party -AIADMK- to the 13-month old government without any reasonable cause or provocation. Some people felt that the ruling class prevailed upon her to withdraw her support to him so that he could emerge as a stronger leader after the election. In the ensuing confidence motion, the Government lost by a single vote. His objective was the conversion of public resources into private assets. However, during his 13 month rule, he did not reveal his mind to the people. This rule was only a preliminary to a great invasion of public assets.
